After a few hours of playing PGR3 on friday my screen corrupted. This is the first time this had happened apart from minor freezes and crashes. Anyway i left for a hour or so too cool down properly, even though the console itself was well ventillated and had been in the same position since launch day. So next i try DOA 4, within 5 mins it froze again and again after another reboot. So i left the 360 thinking it had taken enough punishment for one day.

Sataurday, same thing really just freezing faster, even on light duties of Geo wars all i got to was freezeville. Anyway no sign of the dreaded red ring of light , i think one of the fans have died as it seems to be pushing very little air out of the back vents and seemed abnormally warm.

Had a really joyful call to M$ customer support who eventually agreed to send me out some stickers and a box to return my dead sexbox. Hoping to have a new one in hand in 7-10 business days. The main saving grace is this was a core system so i only have to return console and can keep all my game saves etc on my HDD bought seperately. Oh and be able to get with my dissertation now

Yikes unlucky mate.

Sounds like a great reason to buy a Core actually!

Wouldnt it be easier and faster to check whether the store you bought it from has any XB360 in stock and get it exchanged that way?

Sorry to hear about your xbox mate hope its back soon, seems this is one place MS is lacking behind sony my PS2 died( a total of twice) and they came and did me a swap on the door step so i was never without my console other than for the 2 days it was down.

With a premium you have top send your HDD away too  what a con!!
Guess i better invest in a mem card for backups **sigh**

I was playing full auto and now the xbox gets 3 red lights and it will not work now with out Frezing all the time.

Just got of the phone with MS and it will take 7 to 10 days to i get a new 360, but i will lose all my save games and arcade games am not happy at all, so am going to have to get a memory card now

I had the same problem as you with my premium where it kept locking up and MS said I only had to send the console back and to keep hold of the HDD.

I rang the place where i purchased it first and they said phone M$ :(

Dont ever, ever take bs like that from a shop, storm down there with a receipt and the Xbox boxed up and demand, and take a copy of the consumer rights act printed off.

Has worked for me every time.

I ordered it online and have been on the phone to them again, seems they are gonna contact me within 24 hours regarding a date for the exchange to take place on my doorstep :)

Dont demand anything until you've asked politely if the have any cores in stock. then when they tell you they do you can demand an exchange. Otherwise they may try and tell you they dony have any stock.

I bought my Xbox from his local video rental outlet and their policy was an exchange within 10 days if something went wrong, after that you send it back to MS or they send it back on your behalf. Luckily I have no issues, unlike a friend who bought from the same branch, and when he returned it just after 2 days they said they couldn't do an exchange as they had no premiums left, and the offered him a credit note or he could wait till a premium came in, but he would be on the waiting list !!! They wouldn't give him his cash back. Totally illegal in Ireland btw. Anyway, after speaking with the manager, threatening a solicitor and quoting the various sales of good acts etc.. they still would not move on it, as it was shop policy. Needless to say he got on to his credit card company, explained the situation and that he was refusing the payment. They promptly arranged for what's called a charge back, and the money was simply debited out of the shops account and credited back to him. About a week later he went into the shop and rubbed the managers nose in it. In fact I was with him, ad I never head such profanity :) Also wrote a letter to their head office.

Thats strange I ask them if they needed me to send the HDD as well but they said no. My 360 is on it's way back now (got sent on Friday) so I'll see what happens when I recieve it tomorrow or Tuesaday.

Seems to be luck of the draw with who you speak to  Luckily i've not had to experience this first hand yet *touches wood*

I'm seriously worried now :(

Gonna check when I get home that my 360 is well ventilated and there's a nice breeze coming out the back. :(

(a very concerned) Dave
