Another 360 bites the dust..

had premium since launch day and was born 2/11 and been faultless touch wood only one misshap when fell from up right to flat no damage done though . :D :D

If i bought a console on ebay (which i have) do i still get the standard Microsoft Warranty? This is given its inside a year from its date of birth? Just thinking of the future here!

Thanks

Are these ealry Xbox 360 which have problems. I mean I was thinking of getting a 360 when the PS3 comes out as I'm sure there will be a little price drop at that time and I hope this problem with the 360 units will have been sorted.

Got mine replaced today by GAME for a nice new shiny quiet one :D (well it seems quiter anyway) They only asked what was wrong with it and swapped it straight away, i was expecting to have to argue with them :p

Rainbow six is awesome

Every next gen console will have its problems, namely the two big boys - the ps3 and 360, given that they output so much heat. Even if a newer revision 360 came out mid 2007 it'll still have its fair share of problems. You've just got to close your eyes and dive in.

The warranty at least gives you piece of mind.

Yes, you will still be covered by Microsoft.

No I don't think so - I await correction :)

corrected!

it's the early run of xbox's (any made in 2005). there's another thread around somewhere about the 360's warranty because MS made an announcement a while ago about repairing/replacing a 2005 360 one time only, if it was made in 2005 regardless of it's warranty. ie...they've given 2005 boxes a lifetime warranty.

i've mailed MS to confirm this and am waiting for a reply. dannyjo know's a bit about it as well.

edit...found the link. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17643068

****!!

Been working most of the day, was looking forward to some gaming, turned it on and was given 3 red lights!

Left it off for 20mins, back on, played for 10mins, crash.

Turn back on, 3 red lights.

Not happy. Gonna phone Game up tomorrow to see if there's any replacements in stock, but seeing as it's worked for the past 2 weeks flawlessly, what if I go tomorrow and it works for them? Can I simply demand a replacement?

Guess where I went today? GAME

Just go in with just the console. Explain the problem and they won't even check. They will swap it for a brand new one right in front of you.

I have once had 3 red lights and phoned MS. They gave me a refurbished unit. I then bust my 2nd 360 with a power surge. 2 days ago MS gave me another refurbished unit. The drive kept getting stuck so I thought screw it.

Went to GAME. They said you dont need to go to MS. Do it through us.

wow do 360's fail often? because im thinkin of buying one soon :(

Well this will be my 3rd (when I replace it tomorrow), but all in all I think you're looking at a low percentage. Having said that, it's pretty easy to get it replaced, just an inconvenience.

You have a reasonable excuse for lack of showing-up-ness :p

However you missed your chance at getting 100 revenge takedowns ;)

Sorry to hear of the problems though :(

When you send a 360 off to the repair centre are you suppose to put in the wires? The guy at customer services never said one way or the other.

just 360 & hdd. if u give them ** hdd expect it formatted when u get it back

I wish I bought mine from game, for the sole reason that if it dies a few months into it's life, I won't be hassled about getting a replacement.

I work for the company I bought it from, so if it dies, it's coming into work with me, and if it isn't replaced, I'll create hell! Even last week when i returned my 2nd 360, my manager tried to fob me off with calling Microsoft...I can just imagine what will happen months down the line!

Hopefully my 360 will give me many years of flawless service though :) /me touches wood.

Another one bites the dust...and another one! Sorry to hear that mate, i think they should give you a refund or something like that.
