i was hoping i would be fine :( seems not)
only 4 months old, turned it on to detect new network settings, rebooted, got the 3 rings :(
bit miffed but should be easy to sort seeing as its only 4 months old

Sucks but at least its in warranty. My mates went a day, literally, after the warranty ran out and it cost him like £40 to get it sorted.

why did he tell them it was out of warranty? they cant prove when you bought your console, when i first phoned the woman at the microsoft call centre she said my 2nd console was out of warranty i told her it still had 2 months, they replaced it for free, it was showing on their computers as out of warranty, but i was adamant that it was bought in late january and it died in december, just lie

I don't know the exact ins and outs of it, but he did say he tried to fool them that it was still in warranty but they weren't having any of it and eventually they asked him for the receipt, so he gave in. I guess it depends on the mood of the caller you speak too :p

He should have said that it broke a few weeks back and he hadn't had the time to call until now ;)

after reading so many dead 360 thread, i'm getting confused whether if we're seeing almost one dead 360 reported every week.

shouldn't we have a sticky thread for people to report their dead 360?

Aye, no discussion, just posting when your console has died. Far better than a poll ;)

Again, you should just have babbled the Sale of Goods Act at the shop you bought it from. A console should be expected to last a reasonable time and in my mind that's 4 years at least, not 1. You should be able to get it replaced for nowt for 4 years after you've bought it or try your luck in the Small Claims Court against the shop you got it off. SoG Act actually gives you six years worth of expected operation maximum.
