Inspired by the 48 hour Zelda marathon held a few months ago by some crazy cats in America, I and some mates are undertaking a 48 hour mario-thon this weekend. We've set up a free website with a video feed so if anyones bored at anypoint over the next few days, be sure to send us an email with some kind words of encouragment, it's gonna be a long one...:)

cheers guys, it should be a good laugh, we're attempting to raise some money for disabled kids too, so it kinda gives us a purpose to it, lol.

Wow i could only ever get to the dark world in SM3 and then i'd die/fall asleep

thank **** for memory cards these days

How are you working each Mario game? If you took the shortcuts in Mario1, 3 and SMW, and get only the minimum stars in the 3d ones, you could probably do that challenge in no time at all, but if you 100% them all, that'll take far longer than 48 hours imo.

we may take a few shortcuts, like the warp pipes in SMB, but we wont be glitching the games. So we'll go for 70 stars in mario 64 etc. none of us have played any of the games for a very long time either. If we do finish early we'll probably go back for 100% completion, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's gonna be pretty close!

Good luck with it mate - I want to do something like this one day.

Mine would be complete every Final Fantasy in a week!

I would kill all my mates around me playing games non stop for a week :p

If you do that, you can complete the first game really quickly, as there are warp pipes from 1-4 then 4-8 iirc and you can jump from 1-8 in Mario 3 if you get both whistles. I don't know Mario 64, my first console after my NES was a gamecube, but I think you should at least do the first 3 fully :D.

Is it possible to do all the FF's in a week!? I've only played X myself and it took me ages!

That would be some challenge. If you're talking about the numerical Final Fantasies: That'd be at least twelve games, if you discount FFXI. Then if you were to include the spinoffs, that's another five or six at least, then you have Final Fantasy Legend I-III, Final Fantasy Adventure, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

We're talking at least 20 games - that's be 12 hours each game, which is itself not possible.

Two weeks, for sure. Maybe a week and a half if you sped through it. Thing is, you do have to spend time leveling up, which will slow down your progress through.

Just watching this is making me want to play mario bros 1 again. Loved that game when I was a kid. :)

Good luck with it
