Another 4GB Question - Sorry

Hi there,

Have just got a nice 4gb kit (2x2gb sticks) and it the Geil Dragon stuff.

General running is fine which is good but on start up it's telling me there's only 3008MB, the little widget on my vista sidebar shows the total of 3006MB.

So a bit cinfused i ran CPU Z - It can see all 4GB :confused:

and which slots the sticks are in.....

Have I got to tell windows something?

Running Vista Ultimate 64 Bit so just thought I'd plont the sticks in and away I went!?

What's CPUZ looking at that Windows isn't?

What MB do you have, I believe you have to go into the bios and change a setting. Can some-one finish this off, I think its under Northbridge, long time since I did it sorry.

Sorry should have said what the Mobo was!

It's a Asus P5B Deluxe

Edit just been into the bios and cannot see anything obvious that needs changing!

Right my board is a P5B deluxe, in the bios find northbrigde and theres 2 options to do with memory I believe, above the memory timings. You have to enable it, Ill be back in a second with a link for you.

Edit: change setting "memory remap",save and exit you should get 4gb posting on boot screen, let me know.
If it doesnt work go back in and undo the setting, you've changed.

cheers mate - I suspect it has something to do with memory remapping (just trying to find articles on thw web lol)

The Jobs a good'un!

Dumb question but do I need to keep the remapping feature enabled!

Also any ideas if this interferes with overclocking?

Yes keep it enabled if you want 4GB that is

Ive overclocked my ram and tightened the timings without any issues! Cpu is at 3.2 as well (E6600)
