Another 6420 or 6600 thread

Ive read a few threads this morning asking the exact same question, opinion seems to be divided at the moment so im not sure which to go for

I'll be using GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit RAM and not sure what mobo yet

I'd like to overclock the cpu but im only a novice with overclocks so i'd probably aim for around 3ghz if possible with as little 'faffing' around as possible so would one of mentioned cpus be better/easier for overclocking ?

Why would you say that? My e6420 is at 3.6ghz on air @49oc.

3Ghz seems hittable on just about any C2D with decent air cooling.

Save some money and get the 6420 if your only looking @ 3GHz.

Really depends on the chip some people (the lucky ones ) can get much higher than 3Ghz. Even the E4300 will get up to 3GHz on stock cooler.
