Another anit-sony news?

He has a point.

Sony is bringing out an extremely overpriced, cut down machine, with many bits stolen from other consoles, yet just expect people to buy it as it's a "sony"

I think sony have messed up with the PS3. the promised more than they can give.

Over-priced? Let the market forces decide that.
Stole bit from other consoles? - How did you arrive at that?

I think the Wii-esqe motion sensor in the latest version of the PS3 controller is a case in point. They literally, excuse the obvious pun, took the ****.

It was the same with the ps2. They cut down the initial specs (which were so overhyped it was unbelievable. Anyone remember the 'photo realistic graphics - Emotion Engine' claims :) ), bumped up the price, had no good launch games and an awful design. It still sold heaps.

They are arrogant, but looking at the success of the ps2, they probably have reason to be.

Over-priced - Not over priced for what you get, but it isnt good value because you lack choice. I can get a 360 for between £180 - £400 from the most basic model to one with a HD/HD-DVD etc. which is what makes it so much better imo

Stole from other consoles - The controller, 'tilt action' is a little too similar to the Revolution (Wii) and the only reason it doesnt have rumble is due to them stealing that as well :p

well considering the PS3 is going to be about £250 more expensive than the most expensive console out!

And for stealing things, the mocked Microsofts tiered console system, then used it themselves, they said that nintendo's wireless motion sensor technology was stupid, then magically, they have wireless motion sensor controllers.

Iirc, that idea has been around a long time? This is the way i see it, if sony was in breach of any "protected technology" surely they will be in hot water by now?

They have earned the wrath of the Hairy One, Sony had better tread carefully or he will loose a plague of mutant camels upon them.

Its not so much the legality of it, its just that all of its ideas seems to be comming out just after the competition announces them :D

Regarding the price of the PS3...

I refer you to the chart on this page. It should be pretty clear that the consoles with the higher prices are the ones that failed dismally. Hmm.

The most expensive console out will be slightly inferior (going by the specs) to ps3 (grammer?) on top of that you have plenty of add on that comes with it that you dont have to spend extra to buy.

See my previous post on that.

Its hard to say, the PS2 had the advantage of going up against the N64 and Dreamcast, both of which were getting on. The difference between 360 and PS3 will not be huge, but the price difference might be.

But Sony do have one huge whopping advantage and that is the brand name.

Well if you ask me they aren't stealing the tilt idea from nintendo. For one thing the wii controller has much more than a simple tilt sensor. Plus tilt controllers have been around for years. But they are smug and arrogant. I think they always have been.

I've been following tons of news stories about this on slashdot. As I recall, Sony pretty much mocked Nintendo when they heard about the Wii and it's motion sensor controller, saying it would never work. When Nintendo started showing demos of the thing in action, Sony hurriedly started work on a rubbish bit of motion sensing tech for their controllers.

oh and what about Xbox live.

Sony and Microsoft need to stop worrying about spec and start bringing out original games again. Instead we get tekken 6, gt 5 and gfa whatever. Am soo bored with console games! (microsoft are no better, halo 3 anyone)
