Another BF2 patch problem!

ok we all got togeather and bought our mate battlefield 2 for him; the game installs fine, im told. But as soon as he try's to patch it it just gives him and error and the patching fails :confused:

I would understand it if bf2 did not install at all, but surely this cant be memory related?

Any ideas/help?

All other games/patch's working fine... that we've tried :(

Do you need to run the game once before you patch it?
 
You don't have to run the game before patching it.
Do you know what the error he receives is?
 
tried to download the patch again?? I take it you have the full 1.22 patch??

or you could try reinstalling BF2(make sure you remove the old install first) again but get the full 1.21 patch then get the incremental 1.21 - 1.22 patch

tried that lot lol, tried it off a pc zone disk and all :( no luck
ill get the error message for you :D

I get the impression that maybe a formatt might be the only fix, could emmulation software annoy it? ie: nero etc
 
It is more likely you still have registry entries that are stopping the patch enabling.
Search reg and clean it up then a full re install should sort it.
 
Have you installed on C:?

If not try installing the game there.

Also when the patch unpacks it requires a fair amount of space on the drive to install successfully.
 
BF2 patches often fail for me when I rename them for back-up purposes, but not always. Always leave them with the default filename to be sure.
