i will tell him i will just only take snapshots. thats it lol.Dont expect much from me!
If he's you're friend I would advise him to put his hand in his pocket (if possible), and actually pay for someone who has both experience and is competent.
You may or may not do an amazing job, but until you have shot a wedding you don't
know.
When it comes to friendship, it's better not to gamble with things like this imo.
Now it's winter, the low light is only going to add to the stress which is not what you need on you're first time out.
If you get stressed and your friend can see you look worried, it's game over. Try capturing their personality and laughter then.. you can't.. you will just get a bunch of worried looking faces and forced smiles.
I know you have told or will tell them not to expect much, but make it absolutely clear to them they
really shouldn't expect much. Otherwise they will likely just think you are nervous and are just trying to unload some of the pressure, but you'l actually be fine on the night.
