HI guys, any of you more techie types out there could give me some advice to pass onto to my mate who has this problem please.
"The wife's desktop won't boot.
It wasn't shut down normally: it was left to hibernate. On trying to restart, it goes through a full POST, gets half way through the "resuming Windows" progress meter, then shows a black screen with the following message:
"The system could not be restarted from its previous location because the restoration image is corrupt. Delete restoration data and procede to system boot menu."
Nothing I do gets any response. The keyboard and mouse seem inoperative. Earlier in the boot process I can access the BIOS setup, but nothing I change there gets me any further the next time I try. During the "resuming Windows" progress meter screen, I cannot use the trick of pressing F8 to access the troubleshooting and boot options menu - it just ignores me. I tried changing the boot order to "CD drive first", then booting from the Windows CD-ROM, and I even get the prompt "Press any key to boot from the CD", but the thing still ignores any keystroke and goes to the "Resuming Windows" progress bar screen.
The PC has an AMD 2200 processor and is (not) running WindowsXP Pro SP2."
please help if you have any ideas, as i'm not sure what can be done if anything.
Thanks in advance
