Ok, so I asked for a build last week, mainly for streaming content, and ended up getting one of the HP Proliant Microservers.

VERY happy with the cost. Put in 8Gb RAM and a cheeky wee GPU. It does exactly what I was originally wanting from it.

However, that said, I still need a few more bits and pieces to complete what I ideally want to do, and have realised that perhaps the CPU in the microserver isn't quite gonna be up to what I would want. So I am thinking of just putting Freenas on it, and using it as just a server.

So, with that in mind, I have a budget of between £500 - £600. I would ideally like an i5, as I find them quick enough. I will be doing a lot of BR ripping, and possibly transcoding, so would like a CPU up to the task. I also use PS3 media server, which transcodes on the fly, so has to be up to spec there too.

RAM seems cheap, so would like 8GB, but this is not really completely necessary.

I do not need a lot of storage at the moment, although every little helps admittedly, but I am thinking SSD for OS purposes. I intend to do my ripping then immediatley transfer to server, but I have a 300 GB HDD here spare already, so will use that for initial ripping. Would like 250GB SSD or there abouts.

Don't really do any serious gaming, so onboard GPU would suffice, else something in the region of £50 assuming its a vast improvement over my HD3570 I have already spare, or if the ideal MB doesn't have suitable on board GPU for 1080p playback.

Likewise, sounds aint overly important, as it will just be going through a 7 year old 2.1 speaker set-up anyway. But it does need them. I guess at a push I would like something halfway decent for recording my DJ mixes, but not a priority.

I would like a BR writer for an optical drive though. As unlikely as I am to actually burn BR's, I would like the ability to do so if I choose. I certainly will need a reader at least though, to rip them.

Beyond that, I would like a decent case too. Something that looks cool, in black, preferably with blue lights and stuff. And top mounted USB 3.0 if possible.

Probably a HUGE ask for my budget all that, but how close can you get me?

Ok. Looks nice. Is there any difference between CPU's? Or is the one you picked just £6 more expensive? Is this where you get heatsinks and thermal paste?

Is there much difference between the BR drives? I figured I'd go for the Pioneer, as it does BRXL (If I can ever afford the discs), and for only £6 more, seems worth it.

As said, I already have a normal HDD I could use, so was wanting a reasonable sized SSD for the OS and some programs.

And I guess its not really worth the extra £40+ to go for a modular Corsair PSU.

So that leaves me with this:
