I've got a Silverstone SG05 which comes with a 300w psu and boy an I having trouble finding a graphics card that will run with it.. :(

I decided to really lower my expectations and go for a 9600gt, specifically this one.

It doesn't mention anywhere on the site how much power it needs but I thought I'd check the manual. Sure enough it says it needs a 450w psu!! Can anyone here tell me if they think this card 'really' does need that sort of power!? Or would anyone know if my psu would handle it regardless, like the old Shuttles psu used to? I'm running a zotec 9300 wifi with 2gig ram and a quad core

Quite frankly I don't know where I go from here if a card like this doesn't work..

I would say no. Say if the PSU is 80% efficient, then you're PSU is only suppling 240w and 80% is being generous for a generic PSU (i assume). Therfore, depending on other components you have, I'd say it will be stretched. I'd go for a new PSU with some head room or you'll be posting back asking why your PC isn't working as expected.

thanks for the reply admiral huddy. The problem is that the psu is a sfx one. And 300w is the most powerful they come in!:(:(:confused:

Unless anyone else knows any different?
