Could anyone have a quick look at this build - it's largely based on kind advice recieved on this forum, but I'd like to check I haven't messed things up:

Asus GeForce GTX 560 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £146.39

MSI P67A-GD53 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard - (Sandybridge) ** B3 REVISION ** £109.99
- may have to get this somewhere else as currently out of stock

Antec High Current Gamer 620W Power Supply £52.99

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £39.98

Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case - Black £33.98
I'll probably have to get this somewhere else - but I think I can find it at a similar price

Samsung SpinPoint F1 750GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD753LJ) £26.99

Sony Optiarc AD-5260S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.98

TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless Lite N PCI Express Adapter (TL-WN781N) £11.75

Arctic Cooling Keyboard - Black £9.98

Sub Total : £373.37
Shipping : £11.25
VAT : £76.92
Total : £461.54

+ £140 I paid for a I5 2500k = £601.54

My aim is for a PC that can play games decently, and has some upgrade potential (and not too expensive).

Can you tell me if all these parts will work together? Have I missed out anything important?

Thanks all! :)

This would be a slightly cheaper motherboard. Also if you did get an SSD in the future you could use the Intel smart cacheing feature therefore I think it is a little better. Makes overclocking very easy as well.

I'm assuming that your CPU did come with a cooler? Seems a quite low price.

Other than that everything looks fine and good luck! :D

Thanks for the reply DJmartin:

Yeah, the CPU is a new retail version, so I think it *should* come with a cooler, right?

I selected the GD53 for a possible future SLI upgrade. I've read a little bit about that smart cacheing, but I don't think I quite understand what the benefits would be over simply using a SSD as a boot drive??

Good to know the parts should work together. Are there any other accessories I need to be aware of?

Ahh fair enough with the mobo, I didn't really think about SLI to be honest.

For more information on smart cacheing, this is a pretty good review from AnandTech

And I am assuming you have a mouse, OS and monitor?

Edit: And yes the retail version of the CPU should come with a cooler.

Yeah, I think I can get hold of Windows 7 with a good discount.

I'm planning on using a HDMI input into my HD TV until I can afford to buy a decent monitor. I've tried this with my laptop and it works fine (it's quite a small screen size so resolution isn't too stretched). Would there by any other problems doing this?

I'm planning to do the same when I get my Components in the next few weeks for my new build. It shouldn't be a problem but for games some TVs are better than others. I was lucky as looking at the reviews of my TV it apparently deals with motion well and has little ghosting. It all really depends.

Also if it is a plasma watch out for image burn-in. Set the task-bar to auto-hide and put on a screensaver.

Have queried OcUK this morning about when these are back in stock, as this is holding me back buying my components (unless they come up in sales).

No response yet, but it hasn't even been 24hrs, so no dramas. Will keep you posted.

Hi Weeble, I asked them this over the weekend, and got a reply on Monday saying they are on-order and expected this week.

Out of curiosity, have you posted your proposed build?

Lol - just got this reply:
Unfortunately we currently do not have a date of when that item will be available at the present time. Once we do have a date our website will be updated to reflect this.

Hope yours is more accurate! Don't really want to have to sign up to a competitor - but if needs must....!

I'm upgrading, using existing MSI 6950 2GB twin FrozR III, WD 640GB and Antec 550W. Awaiting these:
Intel i5-2500K 3.30GHz
MSI P67A-GD65 Intel P67 B3
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9

Had wanted to wait and see what Bulldozer would do, but AMD seem to be delaying launch, and I need something now.

Thanks for the update. I imagine your information will be more accurate, as it's more up-to-date. That's unfortunate - I think I may order elsewhere, before the other components in my basket sell out or go up in price!

OK, I managed to find the motherboard and case elsewhere, so I have finally ordered everything.

Now comes the fun part when I realise I have no clue about putting a computer together :D

Hah! Cheers. I think I might be waiting on my OS (I thought it was next day delivery like my other orders, but apparently not).

Is it possible to assemble / test before installing the OS?

You can certainly boot the PC, enter the BIOS which will show it works.

You can even put MEMtest onto a USB stick and test the RAM for faults without needing to enter Windows.
