Hi guys....just placed a pre order for the new DFI Infinity 975X LGA775 Motherboard...and would like some advice on the best DDR2 memory for my needs, as it looks like the conroe cpu will not take such a performance hit if not using as lower latencies as possible .....i'm drawn to the Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB) kit for £211.44 would this be good enough to overclock a E6700 to around 3ghz / 3.2 ghz?

advice appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Regards N

The G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5300 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit looks to be good enough @ £117ish for a over 3GHz overclock - especially with the Infinity, 600MHz FSB! Easy~

Hi...thanks for the reply, excellent that sounds more in my budget *l*

Remember that because conroe is so good at prefetching, memory latency is not really important. So there is no real benefit in getting mega expensive ram.

Think getting the mega expensive rams is reserved for hardcore of hardcore overclockers, more FSB.

if i was to take the E6600 what is the theoretical max overclock i can get with the above ram.

still not sure how the overclocking works on intel, been so used to amd.
