I have just recieved my new e6300 core 2 duo processor to start building a new rig to replace the ageing p4 3.06ghz i have. I have narrowed the mobo down to a gigabyte ds3 or dq6 and a sythe ninja cooler but i'm a bit unsure of which ram to go fro to get the best from this chip.

chip info is
6300 sl9sa malay
l629b405
Are these good clockers at all?

Spec me some components to complete my build, if you think i should choose a different mobo/cooler say why.

Cheers.

A vote for the DS3 (check my sig) and the Geil RAM is very cheap on this week only.

Really biols down to whether you need 2 IDE channels? If so pay the extra for the DQ6

Off topic question

Off topic question - what PSU are you using Nutbusta, im thinking of getting the exact same components as you.

Was using an old Enermax 460w (with 20-24pin converter) and it worked perfectly. However I had a Noisetaker600 in the post so thats what I'm using now and I have to say I'm damn pleased with the setup. Just a tad faster than my old Sempron @ 2.6 and X850XTPE :D

Ok today i ordered the gigabyte ds4 as i'd prefer the cooling on the northbridge and mosfets. Also ordered GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit. Which cooler is the best for a highly clocked e6300? scythe ninja or tuniq tower, or are there any better ones i have missed out?
What sorta power supply would be best, i was thinking a 600w seasonic. Would that be meaty enough for the job?

Cheers.

Cant wait for it to get here :D

I cool mine with an Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - does an excellent job and easy to fit too. I found the Ninja a real pain to fit and it's so damn big, it takes up half the case (does an excellent job though).

As with Bigstan, another vote for freezer pro. You'll be RAM/FSB limited anyways :D

Freezers are indeed excellent for the money, and very small and quiet. The ninja and other large coolers will beat it in temps, but at a cost of size and inconvenience (and cost :o ).
