another CPU dilema

Hmmm I noticed that CPU prices generally have rocketed and by a fair amount too. So in deciding what to buy, I am now more unsure than before.

For an all round PC that does some pretty heavy number crunching stuff and gaming, occasionally runs a VM machine, web deign and some graphical and desktop publishing I need to decide which cpu is right. I also want to clock it to get it to around 4.5 ghz (or more).

Should I go for an i5 3570k, i7 3770k or switch to AMD 8350?
Im upgrading form a q9550
 
I had a feeling it would be the 3770k, guess I will have to wait for the pound to do a little better against the dollar before buying.
 
If if makes anything clearer, I normally upgrade every 5 years or so. So regardless of which board I get, next upgrade will be new tech anyway. I will be using one of those Corsair water coolers, an H80 or H100.
