This time its the living room :). We've gutted it and are getting well on in the process of redoing it, amazing really that its only taken a week given how busy we are. Only two rooms in the house left to do after this...o/.

Apologies for the crap pictures, my phone does not have a good camera!

This was a complete fluke, we started papering the ceiling from the other side and the chimney lined up perfectly:

We stripped the floorboards, hired a floor sander, and recoated them. They're by no means great floorboards, but whilst we decided to go for the cheap option this time. We've had two new floors from France courtesy of the other halfs brother in law, but that still costs a fair bit in shipping and what have you, whereas the total spend on this room (minus stove) has been £180!

We've redone the electrics and put in more sockets.

.

Still a fair bit to do to tidy things up, put some cupboards in and get a new sofa, but it's looking alright so far :).

Ahhh, wall paper. I've had to spend too long stripping wall paper to ever use it myself. It does look good but would a paint job not have had the same effect? What made you decide to go with wall paper?

Just out of curiosity I don't mean to diss your work :)

I hate papering, Ive been doing the same in my bedroom and its taking forever. I'm using 1400 grade lining paper to cover small imperfections but some are still showing through, needs skimming really.

Also, as i was papering i hit the ceiling with my knuckle and a bit of paint cracked on the ceiling and then i pulled it away and a bit bit flaked off. Meaning ive now had to strip the entire ceiling of paint :(.

I hate decorating

The walls/ceiling were papered as I was following orders :p.

Not sure really what the decision process was but I've just done as told ;).

Its a good idea, covers small imperfections that would show through paint. Plus it'll keep the walls slightly warmer, meaning you wont get condensation forming on the walls, as you can with painted plaster.

It's just a complete PITA to do.

Just thought I'd post an update, almost done!
