Recieved my second 2443BW today, however after uninstaling drivers for both monitor and graphics card, it refuses to accept it at 1920x1200!
It shows up as an Analogue device despite being connected via DVI. What am I doing wrong!?

come on surely somebody knows!? :P
its driving me mad, I can't get past 1680x1050!!
Ive now managed to get it to recognise that it is a Digital connection, so thats progress....

Does the monitor report 1920x1200 as the maximum resolution in CCC Digital Panel (DVI) x -> Attributes?

Hi, no it doesn't. It should however, the maximum reported is 1680X1050!
I have the exact same monitor right next to it and that in the attributes section states 1920x1200. Perhaps its faulty?

btw, should just point out that I got so annoyed after reinstalling all the drivers etc. that I went the full hog and reinstalled vista, So its running off a completely fresh set-up.
It also states in CCC that the maximum refresh rate is 75hz where as it should be 60hz, I'm guessing that the firmware needs to be updated, as before when searching for drivers (as a last resort, would usually do that manually;)) windows reported it as a 2243BW instead of a 2443BW

Well I expect you would notice the smaller size if it was a 22" 2243BW especially as you have a 24" 2443BW beside it! :D

It does appear it contains the 2243BW firmware.

As for the max reported 75Hz, that is normal regardless that the max Hz is only 60 for it's native resolution. At lower resolutions you would be able to select higher than 60Hz.

Sounds like Windows is calling it a 22" so limiting you to 1680x1050. Try loading a generic display driver and then setting the resolutions manually.

Innitialy I tried to setup without the drivers installed, when this didnt work I then installed them. Just tried uninstalling the drivers there again and it's still not allowing me to go any higher than the previous resolution. :(

CCC reads the monitor max res via DDC when connected via DVI so if it's saying max of 1680x1050 that must be what the monitor is reporting.

Your graphics card has 2 x DVI outputs doesn't it? :)

yeah, its a HD4870 1GB, the rest of my specs are in the sig.
When I first started up the monitor a message flashed across the screen saying something along the lines of "Display optimised for 1920x1200, please adjust to these settings" to that affect.
Now everything says it preforms at 1920X1200. even by looking at the screen you can tell that it should be configured higher as its just not right at that setting!
Such a weird scenario.
*both monitors are now running the exact same drivers btw.

If you are using ATI, you should be able to create your own resolutions (including refresh rate) changing the registry key for custom resolutions

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{658E8B87-1581-4D24-B17D-88BE5C4F6BA1}\0000

DALNonStandardModesBCD1"=hex:10,24,05,76,00,00,00,50,07,20,04,80,00,00,00,75,\ 07,20,04,80,00,00,00,85,07,20,05,76,00,00,00,00,08,48,04,80,00,00,00,60,08,\
48,04,80,00,00,00,75,08,48,04,80,00,00,00,85,12,80,07,20,00,00,00,60

Google that "DALNonStandardModesBCD1"

I got a Sharp projector with a res of 1024,576 50hz. Everytime time I upgrade my ATI driver, I have to made that change (see the first 8 bytes)

Hey, thanks for all the responses btw guys, really appreciate it.
Dubi, I'm work just now but I'll give that a try when I get home, cheers!
How would I go about editing the registry, would you recommend a third party app or just use the inbuild windows one.
thanks

edit: just thinking about that just now, Im already using my desired rez on the other monitor, so the driver is definately capable of displaying at that specific one, not like its a strange combination like your projector... hmm, I will give it a try anyway.

Im pretty sure that the monitor is goosed...
I've fired off a webnote to OCuk, but its the weekend now, I'm not holding out for a reply till Monday! :(

RIGHT!
sorted it.
Thought it may be useful for anyone else searching to come across this thread, so here is how I fixed it.
after a lot of searching I came across this site Entech
Basically, install that software and it will allow you to "Force" any resolution you fancy to your monitor, you can also change refresh rates etc. and excellent bit of kit tbh!
Don't even have to have it running all the time, it stores the profile and then allows windows to manage it for you.

Very happy, and thanks for all the help guys, I do appreciate ya'll lending a hand.
Cheers!
