Enta & Slow speeds ?

Hi All ,
I am due to change isp's and am looking at one of the Enta Resellers (ADSL24 & TitanADSL ) But i have been reading about the slow speeds and download speeds in offpeak & weekends ,and have also looked at IDNET and they seem a good option too, and they don,t seem to have any slow times in downloads etc ,not sure what to do ,and wondered if IDNET are any good ? and which is the best way to go ??

idnet certainly have a good reputation as a quality isp. they just offer a much smaller allowance. that's how come they don't have slowdowns like enta. with enta, it's the penalty you pay for having a huge allowance. it all depends on your usage and what you want to pay.

and i should just mention that even when enta is running "slow" it never affects your normal web browsing/media streaming or gaming. you'll only notice downloading large files. and this is just at weekends and after 10pm weekdays.

Been fine for me today on Enta, ive been downloading at about 600k, i just changed to a Central that was just about running full speed, doesn't really bother me though, as i do my downloading in the peak hrs. :)

Thanks for that ,so is the upload unlimited or is it set at a rate ?

Uploading is considered as part of the allowance too.....its still data just using a different annex

Yeah you right, upload is also part of the allowance, but the caps are that good that you don't need to worry imo, im on the MAX 60 package, which is 60gb peak hrs, 330gb off peak hrs, only £29.99 a month, and i download all the time in the peak hrs, and my full total for a month (peak and off peak) aint been above 60gb yet, which is my full peak hrs cap, my highest all in has been about 52gb, thats the trick imo, just go for a package which has a peak allowance big enough, that you know you wont use in a month, so you can download in peak hrs, and not have to worry about when the off peak drops the speeds. :)

I don't mind paying £29.99 a month, as the caps easily enough, i don't have an FUP to worry about, and no traffic shaping either, well worth it in my book.

ummmm ok so am i right in saying that if u go for the 30g 300g Enta package the 330g is both download and upload ?

Yes it is, but 30gb would be your upload/download limit peak cap (which is 8am till 10pm weekdays), and 300gb would be your upload/download limit off peak cap (which is 10pm till 8am, and all weekend). :)

Yeah i totally agree with this and thats what i believe is right too :) and most people will download from 9am up to 10pm and then won,t worry about the off peak speeds dropping .as you say the 60g package foe 29.99 is a great price in comparison with the IDNET,s 60g package for 34.99 and its split up so 30g is used in peak time and 30g in off peak ,so your getting far less for your dosh .

Yeah your right ,as i mentioned in the other post ,and i,ll let you into a little secret, well its not a secret just gossip ,i work for Hertfordshire University ,and the guys who run UKFSN isp have offices in our Uni ,if you look at the bottom of the website it say the address is The Inovation Centre Hatfield Herts ,and i know that building very well, and never knew they were in there ,which helps me with which Enta Reseller i,m going for ha! bias or what ha! ;) and for the record they are ex Uni Students of IT & Web Design who run it ,and there very nice guys too :) and spend hours in there office running the support etc :)

It doesn't go to 2mb all the time (thats just the minimum it will go to), the Anti Loss Tool only kicks in to help with pings, and stop packet loss for your online gaming, and only kicks in at the start of the off peak hrs (10pm), as everyone sets their downloads away, but it may only drop to 6mb/5mb etc... and when the load eases, it goes back up, it adapts every few minutes, if the load eases after about 5 mimutes or so, then it will go back up, doesn't go down and stay down, its constantly going up and down depending on the load on that pipe, and you can jump from pipe to pipe, so if rour stuck on a pipe thats say been on 3mb for an hr or so, yet another pipe has only gone down to 6mb, then you can jump onto that one. :)

Im on UKFSN, been on them a year now, so you can tell Jason hes doing a fantastic job, ive not had one single problem yet, excellent service.

thanks for all your posts ,you really know your stuff ! and i agree with it all , yeah Jason is a great guy and he's always at work in the office ,very dedicated guy from what i know ,and i,ll past that on when i see him :) and i think that its a very fair idea that Enta have ,and that way everyone get the same service and can only make for a good isp or in there case isp's ;)

Thank u Enta

Hi All , I just thought i,d mention about something i keep reading in these and other forums about unlimited broadband and Enta .I read more pro comments about Enta's service than i do negitive, and a lot of the negitive comments are about the offpeak download policy ,which i think is very good and fair ,because as we all know there really is NOT such a thing in the UK as a unlimited broadband service in the home isp's unless u want to take out a morgage to get it ha! the trouble with people who are negitive about something which is good ,like Enta is the fact that they want something for nothing ,and that won,t happen in the real isp world ha! My hat goes off to all the people that run the Enta Reseller isp's like ukfsn,adsl24,Titanadsl,Falconnet etc ,as they have taken the isp to the people ,and tried to make it fair for everyone who wants the internet in there homes ,and they work hard to tryto maintain a good service ,and also try to work along with BT who isn,t the greatest company for customer care ha! and they have done great from what i read .So let stop moaning and start saying well done to Enta :)

Hi All, I just thought I'd mention something I keep reading in these and other forums about unlimited broadband and Enta.

I read more pro comments about Enta's service than I do negative, and a lot of the negative comments are about the off-peak download policy, which I think is very good and fair, because as we all know there really is NOT such a thing in the UK as an unlimited broadband service from home ISP's unless you want to take out a morgage to get it, ha!

The trouble with people who are negative about something which is good, like Enta is the fact that they want something for nothing, and that won't happen in the real ISP world ha!

My hat goes off to all the people that run the Enta Reseller ISP's like UKFSN, ADSL24, Titanadsl, Falconnet etc, as they have taken the ISP to the people, and tried to make it fair for everyone who wants the internet in there homes, and they work hard to try to maintain a good service.

They work along with BT who isn't the greatest company for customer care ha! They have done great from what I read. So let's stop moaning and start saying well done to Enta. :)

Yes indeed, three cheers for Enta.

Enta and ukfsn were good i was with them for 8 months before we moved to a cable area, i was worried how vm would be compared, apart from the slow speeds in the evening ukfsn was great, but so far 20m cable rocks great speeds all the time, and no hard caps and cheaper but i would go back on enta without any problems best adsl max isp imo with fantastic allowances.

Been with ADSL24 since October and they've been amazing.

I logged a few problems with them regarding a massive sync-speed drop and they worked really hard to chase it up and get it sorted on my behalf.

Definitely recommending them to others :)
