That error code indicated a hardware I/O problem. Is this computer old and dodgy? Is it reliable? Has this only happened once? If it seems to be in good shape I'd ingore the error and move on by downloading a new WU.

Yep it's a new P4 so should be in tip top.. the log appears to attempt get another WU but that too produces the same error. grrr

Anyway, at least i'm getting this nearer.. i can see the WU coming into the Work folder. then being deleted as they fall in error. Wasn't getting this before.. it apears to have difficulty decryting the WU's??

It has also said that this error can occur if you get a dodgy WU, very unlikely that Stanford has corrupted the WU but possible that it's got corrupted on the way

I guess this could also be due to the proxy if it's the same machine you were having proxy issues with before :o

If i were you I'd try reconfiguring the client for deadlineless WUs so you have less to lose and also a much smaller file size for getting through the proxy - then delete the Work directory and the queue.dat file and start the client up to see what you can get - if that works you could always reconfigure later on for slightly better work

can't believe the problems you've had with this machine so far :o
oh by the way you've not got Norton Security running on that machine have you? that's the devil when it comes to FAH
