I'll try to keep this short and sweet, I have a HAF922 case, and I'm set on getting a Raystorm kit, I know 240 rads will fit but a 360 won't without modding, but I can't decide which one, I like the idea of a drive bay pump and res combo but, I like the look of a tube res and I've read that they're quiter. I think I'd want to do cool both the CPU (i7 2600k) and the GPU, MSI Twin Frozr 290x, but I don't know which water block is best for the GPU, as I've read that some blocks don't cool the Vram.

Ok so it wasn't so short, any advice is appreciated

I think that if you plan on going with cooling your cpu and gpu you might want to look at adding some extra rads. One 360 rad with good fans would probably cut it but if you plan to overclock them then I would definitely get more.

Is it more aesthetic or performance you want?

Both really, I overclock to 4.2 on air at the moment and only clock the graphics card when gaming, so it would only be running at 100% for around 2 hours

The EK 290X version 2 block fits your card.

IMHO people get hung up on how many rads to cool how many items and always seem to go overkill.

A thick dual rad or a thinner triple will cool your i7 and 290x with decend high preasure fans. Think number of items to cool + 1 extra space in regular thickness rads. So 1 cpu = dual rad 1 cpu + xfir would be a quad rad etc.

That EK block says Reference cards, but the MSI Twin Frozr isn't a reference card, also read somewhere that MSI use bigger capacitors so Reference Blocks won't fit

Rev.2.0 brings compatibility for previously unsupported MSI® and GIGABYTE® model graphics cards.

Bottom of the page. I looked this up for someone else on this forum who has these cards. Check the cooling config on there website to make sure i dint read it wrong though.

I asumme the OP means the MSI gaming edition card as there is no twin frozr edition I can find on ocuk.

Correct, it is the MSI Gaming Edition, it's also known as a Twin Frozr Edition.

What's the difference between the Raystorm kits and the OCUK Tech Labs versions? They look exactly the same

Ok, so I got the Raystorm kit, the radiator has 4 holes, 2 underneath and 2 at the back, I plan to mount radiator on the outside, on top of my case, but to prevent leaks, I'll have to mount it upside down otherwise the holes on the underside could leak, is that correct?

the holes on rads are quite often plugged with either plastic or rubber grommets for shipping but they are of no use in the loop and will leak.

you will use 2 holes with G 1/4 fittings for the in and out for the loop but the other 2 must be filled with caps or the fluid will just leak out everywhere. I was under the impression though that the XSPC rads only had 2 holes? well my 240 & 360 do anyway

@Jay Which raystorm kit did you buy exactly as there are 24 'raystorm kits' ?

Would have thought if your rad has 4 ports it would also have a pair of these supplied:

G1/4" Plug

Didn't get any metal plugs only rubber ones I bought the. XSPC RayStorm D5 EX240 WaterCooling Kit

Jay just to clear this all up can you post pictures of the holes on the rad so we can all know exactly . Thanks.

I assume he's got this one and it doesn't come with any G1/4 plugs.
XSPC really are crap with their rad accessories. You only get one set of 30mm screws for example, even with premium AX rads.

You would've thought that OcUK would throw in some blanking plugs seeing as it's a kit.

ED: Then again, maybe they put the multiport rad in by mistake instead of the normal version?

Yeah it looks like that, but it's thicker. I contacted OCUK customer services and they said the kits don't come with the metal plugs, oh well bought some, only £3

I have to say that that's a pretty poor show from OcUK on this one.
These kits are supposed to be all inclusive (with the exception of fluid) and it wouldn't have killed them to at least offer to send you some.

The thing that confuses me is that because it's a 4 port radiator, to avoid leaks I'm going to have to mount it upside down
