now that fermi's out what are peoples thoughts. im using a 22" monitor 1680x1050 max res mostly play command and conquer 3, dawn of war 2, homeworld 2, company of heroes and supreme commander 1 and 2. apps wise photoshop cs4 and dvdfab 7 what would be the best card to go for?

my systems a
phenom2 x4 940be,
8gb ram,
650watt corsair psu,
antec 300 case with all the drive bays full (so the card will need to fit)
biostar motherboard
currently using the on board radeon hd 3300.

would it be worth waiting for the hd 5/6xxx refresh i hears out in a few months or get a cheap card now or carry on with the 3300 till next years new architecture??

For your resolution I'd personally avoid the fermi's as the performance + heat would be overkill for your system, especially when looking at the price of them when compared to the ATI counter parts.

Weazle is probably spot on with the 5770 as well to be fair. The 5850s are VERY good cards and would annhilate all of the games you mentioned plus ati stream also now works with photoshop, making that really fast.

Whilst I doubt you'd need to measure up for a 5770, youd need 11 inches of space in your case for a 5850 if I remember rightly. Your PSU is fine for either btw.

As the others have said, a 5770 would be ideal for you. However, it might be worth waiting for the refresh in a few months purely to bring down the current prices. I certainly wouldnt bother waiting for the next gen though - I mean, you can end up in an endless cycle of waiting for the next gen as there is always something better around the corner.
