It has been around 4years since I built my last machine, however the old girl is just getting abit to slow.

Currently I have a Core2Duo running at 4.5Ghz 8gig ddr2 ram. I am in need of something a little more powerful.

I would like the follow components:
  • Core i5
  • DDR3 - 12+ gig (I run Windows Server 2008 and SQL server 2008 as a secondary partition)
  • Motherboard
  • SSD > 128gig
  • Case
I recently upgraded my GFX card so I don't need that, its an ATI card.

My only other factor would be that I need a case that I can transplant my water cooling into at some point. I am not going to do this straight away I will run it on stock until I get the time to do it (Probably around Christmas). The water cooling will be just for the CPU no GFX, I have a bay reservoir XSPL something pump and a double depth 240 radiator.

I am getting stuck with motherboard choice tbh there are so many and I don't have the time to research them properly.

I don't have a budget in mind however lets say between £500 - £600.

Any help would be great.

That definitely sounds do able. What is your GPU?

As its going to be a different socket you'll need to get a new waterblock too.

I would say.

3570k
Z77X Dh3
16gb 1600mhz Ram
Samsung 830 Ssd 128gb.
Case is a tough choice.

Either Fractal R4, Arc midi, Nzxt 810, Corsair 300r/400r/550d.

Take a look.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Series SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive - (MZ-7PC128B/WW) £89.99
1 x Antec P280 Super Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal Black £84.98
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £83.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED316GM1600HC11DC01) £53.99
Total : £512.04 (includes shipping : £11.75).

The Antec P280 is a large case (supports E-ATX) and can take a 240mm rad in the roof.

The motherboard doesn't support SLI, it only does Crossfiire at 16X/4X, if you want to do Crossfire properly then the Z77X-D3H does both SLI+Crossfire at 8X/8X

Thanks for the help, I'm not sure what model of graphics card I have, It won't be used for intense gaming I only really play WoW.

I won't be going X-Fire or stuff like that.
