Hi guys i have had my current pc 2 years now and i am due an upgrade
current spec is X800 xtpe , msi k8t neo2 and 3200+

looking to spend around these prices
mobo £80
cpu £70
gfx card £100-140
mem £60
H/D £60

have decent case and psu ect so above is all i need for the time being

not bothered if i stay amd or go intel

Marginally over on the graphics card but given the money saved on the motherboard and CPU it works out at about the same overall cost. However if you are less of a gamer then the ATI 3850pro might be a better option.

how many ide connectors do you need ?

if you want a smaller hd than spw's get the seagate 250gb.

i'd go with spw's mob/processor/ram.

if you prefer an ati card go with the powercolour 3870 xt extreme.

just changed the GFX card tnx :)

i have my dvd rom and dvd rw and my 500gb ide hard drive so need 2 ide slots for the 3 drives
i know the sata 500bg HD cheap but i need to keep costs as low as possible
i just need a small hard drive as main for windows and some installed apps/games anthing more than 160gb is over kill as i have the bigger drive for storage

i'd go for a samsung or seagate 160gb drive then, adpaters for ide are available not sure what sort of performance loss there might be.

There shouldn't really be any performance loss between SATA and IDE, I don't think using an adapter would change that as such but it might be less reliable and is certainly more cumbersome. I'd either leave out the DVD drive for the moment and just use the DVDRW and hard drive or alternatively buy a cheap PCI IDE controller card which ought to be less than £20 for a basic model.

Pretty sure they use the same chips so will give the same results.

I have the OCZ and have them at 5-5-5-18 @ 920mhz and they have been perfect:D

It's all a matter of which you prefer the look of IMO ;)
