another help with overclocking

I have a asus A8n premium mobo and a 3700+ 939 skt cpu.
I would like to know the overclock that I should get out of it, I'm not interested in overclocking my ram. I dont understand overclocking,
Can somebody put it simply, is there a lot of maths involved. I used to think there was a box that you increase the cpu frequency, but it looks harder to do with the FSB and stuff.
I dont understand the guide on this forums.
