Hi guys, I am looking to get a boiler fitted in my converted garage (used as my room) to get central heating and a shower room fitted in there. The boiler would only need to power 3 radiators, a shower and basin. Is there a boiler I can get on a tight budget that would be suitable to power just those? Obviously having an expensive boiler just for those seems a bit silly! Im guessing a combi boiler is most likely the choice?

Thanks a lot

How tight is tight? Cheapest combi is about £550, those above about £800. Get something with a decent warranty, or budget for a service contract. Combi's have quite a few bits to go wrong, and a lot of gas fitters are hopeless at, or can't be bothered with proper fault diagnosis and will just fit parts and pray the problem goes away. Its just taken 6 visits from British Gas to fix the intermittent HW on my combo, they gave up after fitting £300 worth of parts to no avail and got the manufacturers out who had it sorted in 20 minutes. Glad I've got a service contract.

Whatever you get, unless you are friendly with a gas fitter it'll cost you at least £500 for installation. Rads, pipework, flue kit and a magnaclean will be at least another £300.

If you haven't got £1500, forget it. Most gas fitters would start at £2k for a combi and a few rads.
