Hi guys my old A64 3200, 1gb workhorse died last week so im looking at making a new HTPC. As i havent looked at comps for a while this selection might be all wrong.

Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel G35 Micro-ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2
Samsung SpinPoint F1 1TB SATA-II
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2
Samsung SH-S223F/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter

478.10 is the final price
What you guys think?
Ive already got a copy of vista 64 and a 32" sammy TV and a 400 gb sammy that i will use.

Thanks

Chris

If you are planning on a HTPC from scratch & not gaming on it go for a 780G chipset board & low spec AMD 64X2 CPU, especially if you plan on blu-ray playback, which you may be able to do the with the money saved.

Ive got a PS3 for blu ray playback so not bothered about that, I might get a gfx card at a later poss.
Also ive just found i can get free shipping and there is a 6% voucher until 22th!!

looking at 438.42 now - result.

Also i need a mini ninja CPU cooler

For 1080p Blu-ray playback the onboard graphics are fine but for games, don't even go there. Reviews suggest it struggles to play Doom3 standard titles even at medium spec.

Yeah i wont until i get the a gfx card prob months away, hows the spec look? any massive errors? will everything work with each other?

Thanks
Chris

Looks fine to me but seems a wee bit of a waste building a good HTPC and not going for a BR/HD-DVD optical drive.

Quick question, i was looking at getting the antec fusion, i was under the impression that it comes with a PSU but ive just rang up and they say it doesnt? Strange because in the reviews people mention how quite it is??
Any ideas??

Chris
