Hi guys,

Just bought my Clio 182 to be told by my mates that their cars would spank it...

Do you agree? Refuse to race for obvious reasons!

Mine: Clio 182 with powertec induction kit

Theirs:

Seat Leon Cupra T (185 bhp)

Pug 206 Gti GT with ram air kit and cat back system

Help settle this debate !!

Round a track I'd have my money on the clio. In a straight line it might be close but the clio will be faster stock.

1/4 mile - clio

The only thing either of those cars could 'spank' your Clio in is comfort on a long journey or possibly reliability.

The 206, particularly, wouldn't even know which way you'd gone.

Cup packages fitted to your clio?

I have to agree with freefaller on the Clio being faster round the track, 1/4 mile will be very very close but with the Clio being lighter it may 'Just' win.

Depends if its the GTI 180 or not.

He has already told us its a GT - the homologation model produced in 1999 by Peugeot for their 206 WRC. It's a regular 206 GTi, circa 130bhp, with larger bumpers.

Its a 206 Gti GT (big bumper special edition). I have both cup packs fitted to the Clio

**Edit - beaten to a response on the GT**

Ahh, Didn't know they produced an even more worthless version of the GTI, Well its settled on both counts then, you will deffo beat them both round a track no issue and with the 206 only having 130Bhp like fox said it will be left for dead.

Even if a 206 was faster it would be irrelevant as they are a nasty nasty car.

So the competition is between the clio and seat.

Surely the 206 isn't that bad ? Not driven it, but seems ok from a passenger perspective. Reckon it'd out handle the Seat too??

yea the 206 wouldnt see it, beiong like 5 seconds down on the 0-100 sprint.

the 206 GTI 180 would be a different kettle of fish though as it would only be half a sec down,a nd if it had ram air would probably beat or equal the 182 to 100...

The other 2 are lardy cars. The Clio is definitely more the go-kart which is therefore, going to be superior in terms of performance, but not necessarily in terms of comfort.

Must admit the driving position in the Clio is a little bit carp... The seat is better made. 206 is comparable or worse on comfort though, in my opinion
