Hi guys,

Just a question offset voltage. I know it's better than running at a fixed voltage all the time, but I don't understand the LLC etc.

At fixed volts I'm needing 1.36 to get 4.5ghz to even boot. But from there it seems to be fine in prime (for the past 20 minutes at least).

But if I wanted to get the same under load with offset voltage?

+ - LLC on 1,2,3 etc?

Or just an idea on what I'm supposed to be doing with them, or a link?

Sorry for such a noob question. Tried googling, but nothing seems to explain it very well. Thanks

Edit: I should add. I changed nothing but cpu multiplier and voltage to get the 1.36 and 4.5. It wouldn't even boot at 1.35, yet I see people in other threads with much lower volts. Is this just silicon lottery or am I doing something really wrong?

Llc is hard to judge imo,its best to use low then stress CPU to see what load CPU v is and adjust if need be,either use one level higher llc or more offset or a higher llc and less offset

Offset adds that amount to your stock/default CPU v,then llc will add some more, each level llc will add an increasing amount, how much varies from board to board so its hard to guess so start low and work from there

At a guess I'd try level 2llc and +0.015v offset and work from there, add one two clicks more offset if unstable and retest ect

Can't reply too well on my phone. Can you use Manual settings? If so will it post 4.5 @ 1.325v. Almost all the ivy overclock (4.4/4.5) we do go straight in at that voltage.

Nevermind misread it on my phone.
What board and memory are you using?

Hiya,

Asrock z77 extreme 4
8gb corsair vengeance low profile 1600

I'll give that a go now, maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

Ok tried it and it didn't post.

But... I loaded defaults, and changed JUST multiplier to 45 and fixed voltage to 1.325 and it's worked. Which means I must have screwed around too much before somehow (Although I can't see what else I changed).

If it failed just stick with level 2 llc and use more offset, maybe +0.020v if that fails try +0.025v and keep going like that till it boots, then stress CPU and see how close your CPU v is to 1.325v and add/takeaway more offset

that's good news.

I should do 4.5 I've come across very few 3570k's that couldn't

1.325v is a high voltage too if i'm honest (perfectly safe) but high.

Got mine at 1.27 and it would go lower I've just oc'd my ram to within inches of it's life so I've given it a bit more juice to keep it stable.

Trying to think if we have any settings for an asrock 4 that i can look at.

Sadly I don' t know enough about offset.

Thanks very much for the reply.

It will get to the desktop at 4.5 from 1.275/8 onwards but crashes within seconds of being there. I'm on 1.295 at the moment and it's ok for me to use and write this message. Not stressed it yet though.

I assume this just means I've got a worse chip?

I've changed cpu multiplier and fixed voltage only. 1.295 is the lowest it will actually let me do stuff at.

the hardest is judging the right llc and offset,if it wont boot just keep adding more offset in one two clicks at a time and retry until it boots

Thanks guys. Still trying to find out what voltage to aim for. After about 5 mins browsing the web etc it crashes. At 1.31 now and going to see if anything. Might try and play crysis for a bit or something.

Think my chip is a bit crap lol.

Ok couldn't run prime for 5 mins before it bsod.

Pushed it up to the 1.325 you recommended and going to try an go from here.
