Hi all,

I'm running an i7 920 C0 at stock speeds. The core temps at idle vary from 38 degrees to 45 (ie one is normally on 38, one on 45...I'd imagine because of my 'skills' in allocating HSF evenly)...is that normal?

Probably early 60s under load...

Cheers,

-C

Arctic silver and a £25 fan whose name I forget.

I have a Zalman ready to be put in, but the mounting bracket would require me removing the motherboard from the case!

I'll have to do it if and when I decide to overclock...

My temps on the cores vary from 33-38 @ 3.7 OC so i would say your temps are a little high.
I only drop a couple of degrees though when i'm at stock.Load should be your main concern imo.At present i get 74c as my max while running prime for about 2 hours.Your Load seems only a little bit high imo so i would not worry too much. You could always clean and reseat your heatsink.I changed my artic silver to the termal paste that came with my noctua and it dropped 2c on average.

My temps are 37-35-35-35 and I think is because all the single core stuff (OS background etc) use core 1. It is normal to go up to 60 under load.

I've just built mine and getting 22 deg across all four cores. (stock)with a new fenrir and some mx paste

I would say at idle but for the past hour i have been cloneing a hard drive

Really happy with system at the moment just waiting to be sure before clocking the living boobies out of her.

ok scrub those temp readings Speedfan is 13-15 deg lower than real temp and core temp.

Damn thought I had a REALLY good chip.
