Hi all

Its my wife's iMac that I never use, and having spend the last 2 days trying to get around OS X I've decided that i really dont like it.

The dvd superdrive is very temperamental, some times read sometimes not.

Can we (i.e me) get an external drive and just use that to install / burn discs as I really dont like the idea of opening it up.

Cheers & Happy New Year.

I've got a Samsung SE-S084C slimline external DVDRW, It explicitly says it is Mac compatible on the box. Never tried it though

I'll keep you in mind, I just need to know for now if I can use an external dvd drive instead of the superdrive.

Pretty sure sales talk is forbidden outside of the members market. Mail me in trust, I could sort out a thread for it in the for sale section, though I'm away from home til Monday

Hi all

I've open her up and it wasn't that difficult at all.

Ive found out that it is a Pioneer DVR-K04PB.

What i'd like to know is, should I replace like for like or get something that is newer, as its a bit long in the tooth & I might be able to get something cheaper.

Thanks
