Just got my new system up and running a few nights ago, and I have to say, I was very underwhelmed by the GFX card performance.

I got around 4960 3d Mark 06 @ 1280x1024

System specs
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
Connect 3D X1900XT 256mb
2GB ram
Shuttle SD37P2

Are the scores rubbish, or am I just a bit out of touch with 3d mark benchmarking (haven't run it in years)

cheers

I get 6600 3dmark with my rig, is the cpu overclocked ?

Something isn't right with your pc :p

I get around 6200 on my computer check sig, this is with a Pentium D though, heavily overclocked.

You really should overclock you C2D to really unleash its potential! You could easily surpass my score if you did!

EDIT : At stock my computer gets around 5800, i think your score low actually.

maybe the fact you have a x1950xt-x??? his card is not as good as yours dude

You havn't read much about it then have you :p

My card exactly the same as his, but it has newer Faster RAM, which makes little difference,

Seriously though Supercow, Overclock that Cpu to 3ghz and see the score rise like a NASA Space rocket :p

Haha, well, ill have to get better RAm first, which will have to wait for now, since this new rig was not a "budgeted on upgrade" :P

No it's not. The 256 x1900xt is about 10% slower than the 512 version which is about 10% slower than the x1950xt.

With a stock dual core cpu, a x1900xt 256 should get just under 5000, a x1900xt 512 should be getting around 5500 and a x1950xtx around 6000.

The score is perfectly normal.

Reviews I read gave it about 5000-5500, but all of those used 2GB of RAM which is going to make a difference... if you make the jump to 2GB, you'll probably see a decent jump in score too!

BS

having more ram doesn't improve your frame rates, it just makes things load faster, stops game stuttering etc, allows you to do more at once without everything slowing down because of disk access etc.

Spec in Sig and I got 5083 3D2006 score with resolution 1280x1024...so with your dual core I would have expected higher of your system ?

Remember however that you are running a X1900XTX 512mb compared ot the OP's 256mb X1900XT.

Your card is faster yet you are held back by your cpu. (in 06 at least).

This gives you roughly identical scores.

Oops, sorry! Coulda sworn you had 1GB there when I was reading earlier!

Still doesn't seem far out of whack anyway... is it worth posting the score breakdown? Gives a more detailed comparison to other cards/CPUs then...

I have roughly the same setup and im getting a score of 4983.....

£97.99 x 1 - Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM (CP-135-IN)
£91.99 x 1 - Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-061-GI)
£62.99 x 1 - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB ST3320620AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-078-SE)
£4.99 x 1 - Sony Floppy Drive - Black (HD-001-OK)
£66.99 x 1 - Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU (CA-040-AN)
£164.99 x 1 - GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) (MY-058-GL)
£29.99 x 1 - Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B Heatpipe CPU Cooler (478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA755) (HS-003-SY)
£159.99 x 1 - HIS ATI Radeon X1900 XT ICEQ 3 SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI

Now i need to start some overclocking.... any good guides on here to overclock the above parts? im a complete newbie at overclocking :)

It shouldn't be 10%, if the res is 1280 x 1024 ;)
