Another 'is this bike any good?' thread

I know I've posted before and I'm on the lookout again. Found this in a local shop for about £250 with mudguards thrown in.

All I want it for is some local plonking around, ride along the sea front, bit of exercise in nice weather sort of thing.

It's got a bouncy saddle!

Any good or is it going to be pants?

For that kind of budget have a look at Decathlon, or maybe see what you can get locally second hand. Does it need to have suspension and a plush seat? Do you specifically want flat bars? I take it that you are going to commute on it? How far and what kind of terrain?

None of the above! I just want something suitable to plonk around on, no commuting just a bit of fair weather riding to enjoy the countryside and get my fitness up a bit. I doesn't have to have suspension and a plush seat or flat bars - That's just a bike I saw at the local shop so I'm open to suggestions.

Check the sizing guide as they only have very small frames for that bike.

I'd much rather grab a Voodoo Marassa from Halfords via a cashback site, plus look out for daily TdF deals that might drop the price further. It's a cracking budget bike, especially once you throw a better set of tyres on it.

You'll struggle to beat the voodoo for spec if that's the sort of bike you want at that budget..better drive chain and hydraulic brakes.

Oh that's actually quite a good shout - I was looking at that model a couple of months ago after someone at work got the same one. It's fifty quid cheaper now as well which is a bonus.

If you do get that voodoo feek,put some slick tires on it and it will be so much better to ride.

I put slicks on my mountain bike and its superb.

That Marassa is now ~£240 before cashback, Halfords have started a 20% off virtually all bikes sale, crazy low price, covers the cost of a new set of tyres and then change since this thread was started.

All ordered, bike, lights, helmet, mudguards, pump, lock, bottle (and holder) and a little toolkit for £370. C2W scheme so it's actually going to work out as much less!

I have a set of continentals on mine for nearly 2 years,never had a puncture,Schwalbe are also a good make.

I changed over my tires when i got my bike and didn't cost me anything,the shop just swapped over the tires as they were both roughly the same price.

Just ask halfords for some slicks in exchange for the tires on your bike,they should be able to help.
