hi peeps.

just wanted to run this one by you's.

My brother worked for an insurance agency, low pay crap hours etc. they then said because of the credit crunch they're closing his department. He was to keep his job by moving to another lesser payed department.

anyways, he was speaking to an old manager of his at car craft, who said "why not come back to car craft, you can have your old job back" and it was all agreed etc.

my bro said great, i'll quit current job.

then after quitting found out that the ex boss who offered him his old position was one of 4 bosses that needed to agree on the decision (3 managers + one area manager). the 3 managers all agreed, the area manager has now said no. so my brother is now without a job.

/rant

also would just like any advice if there any kind of legal come back (clutching at straws here), they did say at first "the job's yours" after all.

thanks

nope, nothing in writing unfortunately. We did give him the usual speech about "you don't give your job in before you get a new one" etc, but he was adamant that he already had the car craft job back.

Nothing he can do, as others said wait until you get the contract/start date etc before telling ur old boss where to stick his job.

As the others have said - unfortunately there's nothing he can do.

Unless, of course, he hasn't yet handed in his written letter of resignation to the insurance company... but if he's said "I'm leaving... oh, no I'm not" they're not going to be very reliant on him actually staying too much longer!
