I know this topic has probably been done to death. I want to buy a new 24' monitor. I've had a NEC 20 for the last 4/5 years, but would like to upgrade. The 24WMGX3 is now discontinued, am I right to assume the LCD2490WUXi2 is the closest thing if not better to it in terms of replacement?

I've been looking at the Dell and HP, but... I think once you've experienced a good NEC you try and stay with NEC.

That is correct but the new Dell ips looks tasty so may be worth waiting a week or so for reviews and the added bonus that its only £450.

NEC is sure to use high quality components and in general have very high image quality but basing to PC's specs you're probably not doing anything colour critical things but gaming so it would be sensible to look also for other IPS monitors with low input lag...
2690WUXi has better lag than 2490WUXi but definitely nothing great for gaming.

For gaming LG W2600HP would be currently one of the best monitors with probably below 10ms input lag.

300Ł in UK, 530€ in DE :(

Hmm, that LG is out the same day I have to go down to Birmingham. Could swing by OCuk:)

Might wait for some reviews though. Hmm another note, its 26'. I never thought I would be one to say it, but 26 is probably too monster sized.

*should've bought the Nec 24 when I had the chance *

Actually real panel size of 26 inchers is 25.5" but you know how everyone likes rounding upwards...
Width is 60cm which is ~4cm more than in 24" monitors and you can push it little farther which gives some extra space for keeping small stuff in front of it.

Fantasmic, looks like I'm leaning towards the Dell now. I came pretty close to deciding to buy that LG you know lol..
