Morning All :)

I'm looking for a new build spec.

Minimum requirements are a 64 bit proecessor (pref intel)

I need;
PSU
Motherboard (onboard GFX is fine)
Memory
Processor + heatsink

I already have a case and spare HDD's.

Budget is around £300 please!

All new gen Intel CPUs are 64bit, so as long as you're buying new that's one box ticked.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-4430 3.00GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £131.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £65.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD38G1600HC9DC01) £61.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 350W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £39.95
Total : £309.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

The motherboard is a 'Z' series, usually chosen for their overclocking potential. You could esily drop down to the H chipset but to be honest, this is such a good price it warrants consideration.

8gb of RAM is possibly too much but you haven't said what you'll be using it for. If you aren't using it for RAM intensive tasks then you could drop down to 4gb.

Purrfect

That's a much better spec than I was hoping for! Thanks guys :-)

2 minor concerns. I've heard some not so positive things about gigabite boards and have never heard of psu make. Whats the long term reliability of these?

SuperFlower have been making PSU's for years, but only have began making their own now. They were OEM's for the best PSUs before they had their own range. They also make EVGAs SuperNova "G2". Really great PSU's, arguably the best

Gigabyte motherboards are the best imo, UK RMA, great support and solid boards - many will back me up on this

Thanks again guys. Will probably be making a cheeky purchase this afternoon :-)

Last thing is an additional hdd. Am I right in thinking the wd red are good for low power storage or am I way out of date ;-)
