I was thinking this would be ok. I game a lot, but I don't do anything like folding or rendering , so I thought the Q6600 wouldn't be needed. However, with the recent discussion over which one is better, I'm not so sure. The chances are I won't be upgrading for at least a year, so I'm becoming more inclined for the quad. What do you think?

Also, regarding the graphics, I only have a 1440x900 screen, so I presumed that the Geforce 8800gts 320mb would be sufficient. Perhaps when the 9800 comes out I might upgrade to one of those. Again, any suggestion would be appreciated.

My maximum budget is £900, although I wouldn't really want to spend that much, but I will if I have to. Apart from that, could you please check everything to see if its all ok and compatible! :) I don't need screen, os, or peripherals.

My build at the moment comes to just over £800. Also, whilst I remember, I will not be overclocking, or if I do, it will very small amounts, so please bare that in mind.

lol you wont be overclocking but you included a 40 quid CPU Cooler? :p :D

The E6850 is just a rip off if you ask me, just get the E6750 and clock it up. But your not overclocking so.... :o :(

I would personally go for the Q6600. Yes the E6850 beats the Q6600 is most games but the diffrence is minimal if you ask me.

I would look at maybe swapping the e6850 CPU for the Q6600 and if you can stretch your budget a touch look at the 640Mb version of the 8800.

Other than that its a good spec.

Cool, thanks for the replies guys. On general recommendation, I've changed the processor to the Q6600 and taken the cooling down a notch as when retrospect it did seem a little silly going for such expensive cooling. Apart from that, is everything else ok? Would the PSU be able to cope with quad core, or should I plump for a higher spec one? I made another screenshot for some reason :p

I'd put the other cooler back, and decide that overclocking is (a) really easy - we're not rocket scientists here [apologies to any rocket scientists who may be here] and (b) completely free, once you have some decent cooling in place. :)
