another new pc not booting thread!

Hi guys, just in the process of building my new media centre pc. Have all the gubbins connected up, specs are as follows:

antec fusion case
foxconn 946gz7ma motherboard
samsung PC2-5400 667Mhz 240PIN DIMM 1 GB RAM
seagate barrcuda 60gb hard drive
p4 processor, can't remember which one
NEC dvd writer

now just powered it up for the first time, all the fans spin but at full power but no signal to tv, no beeps, however i haven't got a speaker installed, which doesn't really help, fans never slow, hard drive doesn't spin, have tried RAM in both slots and finally have tried another monitor to check the signal.

Please help!!!!

psu is the one supplied with the case, which is only a month old!

I'm in the prcoess of trying a different cpu at the moment. I'll let you knoiw what happens.
 
Another vote for get a speaker and connect it up... Can be had for about a quid (i think) at ******s or similar.

Without the basic 'beep' troubleshooting tool, you are grasping at straws trying to fix it.

Do you mean that you haven't got the mobo speaker connected, or you haven't got external speakers connected? You only need the mobo one hooked up. No LEDs on that mobo?
 
right then i've finally got my hands on a mobo speaker, however i can't seem to find anywhere on the mobo to plug it in?? a little help?

Also i have noticed that there is a 12v socket on the mobo with nothing plugged into it as the PSU doesn't have a cable coming off to fit this socket, is this critical?

4 pin connector right?

Yes it is critical, your pc will do exactly what it is doing without that plugged in.
 
The 24 pin power connector should snap in two giving u one 20pin and one 4 pin connector, check the motherboard manual if u can put the 20pin in the 24pin power socket leaving 4 pins empty and the 4 pin connector should go into 4 pin socket.
 
no it's a 8 pin connector? so unless i take the 4 pins off the end of the 24 and use another 4 pin off the psu, but that can't be right surely?

The manual for this mobo is one large A6 poster sheet telling you what the different connections are and thats it, bit lame.
