Hi guys, I just finished Mixing/Mastering my bands latest song to go on our demo

It's on soundclick, here (against the flame):

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=479390

Here's how it was recorded (all DIY, at my house)
Equipment:

Presonus Firebox
SM57 (for guitars)
V67G (for vox)
Bass DI -> Firebox
Drums from DFH
Randall G3 Half Stack w/ Ibanez Tubescreamer for beef
Guitars:
Schecter 7 String and Ibanez RG1570L Prestige
Synths from Hypersonic

Recorded, mixed and mastered in Cubase...

Let me know what you think, we are very pleased with the quality of it considering it's a homer!

Thanks chaps :)

It's not my kind of music, so I can't comment on the music itself, but the recording quality does sound quite good, certainly for a homebrew effort :D

I really struggle to get good drum sounds - but then I just use Audacity to record :o

What's DFH?

Drum kit from hell, i would imagine. Not really my type of music either so i cant comment on that. The vocals seem too much though. Apart from harmonies are there no effects on them? It might just be because the british accent just doesnt suit metal lol.

The good points :
Excellent musicianship and I didn't get bored.
You tick all the boxes for that genre and I thought it was very Helloween-ish.
Superb drum programming that sounded quite real most of the time.

Not really bad points :
Mix still needs working on.
Vocals need something doing to them so they sit in the music better.
The drums also seem to be apart from the whole mix.
Hard to explain - its as though the guitars are in one plain and the drums in another or the guitarists are standing here and the drummer is sitting over there.

I played Fortress too.
Theres some talent there, keep it up.
