possibly in the future im not really a gamer just the odd occasion.
Needed a new pc for about 6 months as my 5 year old laptop is on its last legs.
Iv been watching these SB cpus since then and think im gonna go for one.

What are you using the PC for? If you are not a gamer you can save money and buy a less expensive graphics card.

well i want to be able to play the latest games if i feel like it, and need something thats going to last a couple of years, any other suggestions gfx wise?

Get yourself a nice CPU cooler, as almost anything is better than the stock cooler:

Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler
Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 High Performance CPU Cooler
Titan Fenrir Evo CPU Cooler

These are quite popular choices. Depending on your budget & what Res you game at. But you could spring for a 6950, had quite a few people with sucesses unlocking it to a full 6970. Which will really help with gaming.
