Hi, following the death of my faithful Abit NF7-S rev2 of 3 years I've been visting OCUK for several weeks after deciding I'd build a new rig from scratch, and have just registered

Have been running above motherboard, XP 2500+ mobile @ 2.4, Asus X800XT-PE, 1.5Gb DDR-400 Ballistix on a 19" CRT and played most FPS's up until August

OCUK website and forum is awesome, spent hours searching through threads and am now only a few mouse clicks away from ordering, have only held off for past 2 weeks awaiting to decide on 8800GT, HD3800's or new revised 8800GTS

Well looking forward to December ;) and getting back into the o/c bug, but things have moved on a lot since I built my current rig

Have now got an idea on which core components, but would appreciate some advice before I order

ps I've got a Thermaltake Tsunami dream case and Antec TruePower Trio 650W already, also got XP Pro 32bit and got Creative speakers PC5800 5.1

Monitor - Samsung SM-226CW 22" LCD
Board - Gigabyte GA_P35_DS4
CPU - Q6600 but am I better off with either a E2180 or E6750 for now ?
Cooler - Arctic Freezer 64 Pro or Tuniq Tower ?
Sound - Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer 7.1
HDD - WD SATA-II 500Gb AAKS
Memory - GeIL DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 (2Gb or 4Gb)
** Even though 32 bit will only see approx 3Gb, is it worth it over 2Gb for £40 ?
GPU - 8800GT 512Mb
** On a 22" LCD at 1680x1050 would the upcoming new 8800GTS be any better or would that only be on a 24" at silly res ? can't help feeling I'll want one by xmas

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that Asus are making the best mobos right now, especially for oc'ing, and Samsung are making the best hard drives short of a raptor.

2gb is enough if you're gonna run xp and I'd hold out for the new GTS if time and money alows it. I can't help with the cpu choice I'm afraid.

As for for cooling........well I've just gotten wet and wouldn't go back!

The rest looks pretty sweet. I hope I've been of some help.

I think you need the arctic freezer 7 rather than the 64, have a double check :) I have the freezer 7 and temps are low and it was easy to fit. Price is good too
