I suspect EA will always be around to buy up studios and melt them into the ground. Need I say a belated farewell to the Command & Conquer franchise.

what most people don't get is most studios are one game away from closing.

reason why many wont take big risks with franchises for eg.

I'll never understand people who celebrate other people losing their jobs...

Gamers deserve everything they get, don't they? I mean: Airtight were trying something a bit different with M:SS. It didn't quite come together, by most accounts, but they deserve credit for trying something. Yet gamers still rub their hands with glee at the death of a studio who dared to put out a game which didn't live up to expectation.

7.0 user score on Xbox 1
7.6 user score on 360
7.4 user score on PC
7.0 user score on Ps3

User scores are usually fair, i.e 5/10 = average, 6 decent, 7 good etc. and from everyone I know who played it, it's a good game...

Awful media outlets that rate reviews based on how much advertising space the publisher buys on their sites give it 6-7/10 and say it's average.

This to me makes it sound like a decent game, especially as users are trustworthy and professionals are not, they tried something different and from the sounds of it did a good job, but obviously didn't hit sales target and went bust.

Why the **** would you be happy at this, OP?

Same user who said Dice & EA should be boycotted to death after admitting to buying BF3/BF4 & premiums.

Did you even play the game? Buy it at release?

To the people who have to wake up in the morning and find work, good luck.

I was just thinking this...

Sure, the game wasn't up to scratch and nor was it a hit. But someone who has worked hard in that job, spent a couple of years which are now almost thrown away developing a game that flopped seriously impacts their career short term. Even long term some times.

It's not really fair to praise it.

And those now without a job, I hope they find something soon and with ease.

And people ask why we get endless sequels and yearly franchises. Because when people try to make an original IP, they lose their jobs and then 'gamers' are happy about it.

People that start threads like this are everything that is wrong with the gaming community.

Quite right, think this shows more ignorance from the OP:

Steam is going the same route mate, Do you not see the amount of indie junk plastered over it? You can barely find the good games and when you do they cost more than the rainforest.

I'd be glad when DICE Stockholm lose their jobs. DICE LA look like they can do a better job with Battlefield. However it is always the top executive worms who make bad dececisions and yet come out smelling of roses. Like that Don mattrick guy.

People should never wish for studios to close down, no matter how bad you think their games might be.

Its bloody hard enough in this industry without less devs/pubs around.

Plus, you know, people losing their jobs isn't funny?
