This is coming in at £615, is there any way to get a comparable spec for roughly the same price. Is the mobo\cpu ok (i don't know anything about intel as i've had amd processors since the athlon 1000!)

Go for gigabyte DS3 for £17 more but at least you can overclock on it better.

I would swap the CPU cooler for an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro, it's around the same price and is better than the one you have chosen. Also do you not need an optical drive, as there isn't one on your spec.
