I want a nice quiet PC, but not at the price of performance.
I have just bought an Asus Blitz P35 motherboard (the one with built in watercooling on the chipset) and I am going to order a Q9550.
Now i've had my eye on the Zalman Reserator 1 V2 for a while, and the fact that it is on this week only just sweetens the deal. (will get the additional cooling fan for the Zalman)
Now I only intend on cooling the CPU and the Chipset so I dont require a high end custom watercooling setup. I still have an 8800GTX but I don't know how long for, so I wont be including it in the loop even though the Zalman kit comes with a VGA block. Also I don't want to add extra heat into the loop.
I will also be running 2x 1GB of the OCZ Reaper 9200 ram, with possibly adding another 2GB in the future.

I would basically just like opinions whether i'm doing the right thing. I like to have an overclock on my CPU and memory, but I dont really overclock my graphics card. I have a mild overclock i run purely for playing crysis, otherwise the GTX runs at stock.

Current cpu/motherboard/cooling = E6400 @ 3.2, DS3, Scythe Ninja.

Thanks for looking.

You'll probably just get away with it, but you'll be risking running high temperatures (60-70C load on the CPU) and the Reserator tower will be a real little heater! It really depends how much overclock you want on the CPU. No overclock, default volts, no problem, but 1.35V plus on the CPU and you're going to be running quite hot.

What's the alternative for cooling a Q9550 then? I dont really have enough room in my case for anything more than a dual rad. And I really wanted to take some heat out of the case, hence the external kit.
What would the alternatives be?

Zalman Reserator 2 would be a better bet altogether, or have a look at the Innovatek Konvekt-o-Matik passive radiator, as it's approximately the same cooling power as a PA120.2 without fans, although it is quite expensive.

Change of plans, cpu upgrade is on hold.. I just bought a Mountain Mods U2-UFO case!!
So now i'm skint till payday lol. Then i'll have to buy some fans for filling these 9 120mm holes that will be in the case. Eventually i'll save for a full watercooling setup since I will now have "mountains" of room, heh.
