my psu has just burnt out, so i need another on a budget. its got to be modular, but as cheap as possible
(not secondhand as the last one was)

my current spec:
I5 760 CPU, Asus p7p55d Pro Motherboard, Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus CPU Cooler, 4gb geil ram, asus 470 gtx, 1tb hdd, SB Audigy 2 PCI sound card, 300mb wireless card

i might buy another 470 in a couple of months as they are getting so cheap :D

are they both going to be semi modular?
is it going to be noticably more efficent? worth the extra £5

A "good" 650 W would do if you not overclocking much.
But at the moment OC don't have a decent 650 W that's cheaper than the CX750 so it's a mute point. :/

So in the £70-80 budget range:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Gamer Series GS 700W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020013-UK) £79.99
1 x PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply £79.99
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020015-UK) £69.98
Total : £241.97 (includes shipping : £10.00).

The 7-Year Warranty on the PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W is something to take into account.

I dont think it has been mentioned in the thread previously so my 2c worth. Buy the very best you can. I bought a slightly lower rated PSU instead of the 750/850w version. It is a corsair and faultless so far but i know that one day i have to replace it if i ever want to go xfire. This annoys the hell of out of me so dont make the same mistake as me.

Also i think corsair are overplaying their reputation a little with current prices. XFX are gaining a very good rep so you could save yourself a few ££ going with their 80% efficient model.
