Memory Question

I have 4 dimms on my asrock m3n78d mobo and have 2 x 2gb ddr3 1333mhz memory.

I am currently bidding on another 2gb stick to go along side my 4gb at the moment.

I am running dual channel of course at the moment, but when I add in the other 2gb it will run single channel for a while with 6gb installed.

Even with 6gb memory (3 x 2gb) will I suffer because of single channel??? as it is not dual channel with 3 of the 4 dimms with installed memory???

This is mainly for BF3!

Thanks

I don't think there's one answer.

Maybe it'll all run in single channel mode or maybe you'll end up with a pair in dual channel mode and 1 stick in single channel mode.

Either way then technically performance will be lower.

You probably won't actually notice the difference but if you ran some benchmarks you'd see it.

I assume you're expecting to buy this really cheaply as you can buy another 2x2GB for less than £20.

indeed, but like me, he is also skint lol (don't get paid enough from work :P )

it will do me until i can afford another 2gb stick... but i will need that really slim line memory as my cooler obstructs one of my dimms.
