Right for the life of me I cant figure this one out, I now have 2 installs of 2 different operating systems one being XP Pro, the other Vista Ultimate; and for what ever reason I have audio stuttering in both, though im not 100% sure it is audio stutter as it could be a system wide stutter as the mouse will lagg and so do games. The only difference is that the stuttering is less dominant in Vista, I would have thought it to be the other way round but hey nevermind.

List of things that I have done in XP: (havent tried anything in Vista and dont want to)
- New audio drivers
- New audio codes
- New Sata and Pata Controller Drivers
- Latest chipset drivers
- Re-installs (several)
- Latest graphic card drivers
- Different harddrives

Yet to try:
- Different sound card (dont have a spare one)
- Different graphics card
- Different CPU (dont have a spare one)
- Different PSU (dont have a spare one)

Is there anything else that people can suggest trying before I throw this PC out the window?

Also.. is it possible to test the health of a motherboard as I think that if anything was causing the problems it would be this as it causes a lot of blue screens when trying to overclock the slightest bit, I have updated to the latest BIOS but no change.

Run the hardware outside the case to make sure there's no grounding issues?

Try a sound card?... (MM might be best - cheaper)

im picking up a cheaper sound blaster live off there to test, but i dont think it would be grounded issue as i havent moved a single thing, i only re-installed since it was bluescreening in games

Have you checked your memory? Just throwing out an abstract alternative there. If things are stuttering thats one place I'd look, especially if its worse in Vista as I've heard thats a bit more memory intensive.

PK!

My point about checking your memory still stands, I'll just remember not to give advice that early in the morning again. :p
