So I'll be making a new PC sometime in the next 2 weeks, and any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
(There's a few items that aren't available at OCUK so I've just linked to the manufacturers page instead.)
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600
Coolermaster RC-330 Elite Black Midi Tower Case w/o PSU (£30)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Seasonic S12 Energy+ 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply
(Link is for 550W version).
Leadtek GeForce 8500 GT 512MB DDR2 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x1GB)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
80GB WD Caviar SE (8-MB) SATA 3.0
750GB WD Caviar SE (16-MB) SATA 3.0
Is this set up OK for the most part? I know I could and perhaps should do better with a case, but I need a case shorter than 420mm, and there's few good ATX cases that satisfy that (this one being 413mm).
Will the power supply be good enough? If I replaced the 8500 with a 640MB 8800GTS at some point in the future, would this PSU still be sufficient?
Edit:
Should add that I may overclock slightly, more out of curiosity than anything else. It's unlikely that I will play too many new games on it either right now - C&C3 being the only one that I can think of at the moment - which is the reason I've gone for a stop gap video card before I can procure a 8800GTS.
