If like me you can't bear the BBC and the left wing liberal, political correctness and nannying this is wonderful news if true

Link

+ no more TV License so another £142 to spend on something useful rather than keep Jonathon Ross or one of the other leeches.

Russell T Davies has a right nerve to talk about anyone "dismantling the BBC", after the havoc he's wrought upon Doctor Who.

I like the BBC, their TV is informative, entertaining and educational. I don't really know how you can dislike their programming, you might not like JR but what about Gavin and Stacey, or any of the other great shows that have been given a chance due to the BBC.

I don't really get this hate wagon for them, sure they do everything by the book but someone has to set the mark.

left wing liberal, political correctness and nannying

Since when was the BBC nannying?

Im not really a "fan" of either party, but I think the BBC does a decent job as a fairly independent news organisation. The main reason I want to keep it is because I shudder when I think of american tv and fox news et al.

We couldn't live without the BBC, the majority of us uses lots of their services, for example, their website for news, news on the tele', entertainment, radio shows and awards ect. The BBC aren't a bad thing, its a brilliant English thing, I don't understand why people think so little of it.

The Beeb is fantastic, but it's not worth £142 a year. Especially when so much of that is wasted on cretins like Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand.

Yea, because itv, chan 4 and 5 do such a good job.
Top Gear
mock the week
have I got new for you
any of the life, blue planet etc soca
the local programming is a lot better quality
all the radio stations
one of the best websites on the net
BBC world service
iplayer
f1 with no commercials
sorry, but you can take the commercial alternatives, ESP
murduchs little empire, and the crapness that is skynews and te all out republican channel that is fox news.

Isn't it funny how when the sun (murduchs) swapped to the Tories that this should suddenly come up, just at a time when they have had a run in about pay per view news websites that the BBC wouldn't sign up to!

Actually they say nothing about getting rid of it, only freezing it.

The Doctor Who writer is convinced that a move to freeze the licence fee by the Conservatives will be the beginning of the end for the corporation.

What a surprise more crap journalism..

However you should still vote tory, the better of two evils..

I would pay £142 to have David Attenbrough on more!

my worry would be that the high quality wildlife programs and stuff from the open university such as coast would suffer if the whole thing went commercial

For £12 a month or whatever the cost is the BBC provide an absolutely fantastic service. It's the only public service I can think of where I feel we get value for money. Not only that but they've been providing an excellent service with things like the iPlayer for years and are streets ahead of their competitors with regards to this.

I love their website and use it daily. They've got the best comedies on TV. Their documentaries are superb. There is a massive range of sport for all tastes and they provide very good local programming too.

I honestly don't understand how anyone can attack the BBC unless they've got a vested interest in taking it down. ie - Newspapers, commercial broadcasters etc. The likes of that scumbag Murdoch etc.

For all those people that continuously moan about the TV License fee, what the hell else can you get for £142 a year that matches the broad spectrum of output that the BBC manages each year.
Two half decent seats at an O2 Arena gig cost that, so thats at best 3 hours entertainment as opposed to a whole years TV/Radio/Web entertainment supplied by the BBC, I know what I think is the better deal.

I can accept a temporary freeze on BBC spending. However, dismantling it is one of the few things that would get me off my arse and march in London to protest.

the bbc are way too big and need to be trimmed down - only the tories will do that, labour sure as hell won't.
the bbc is just another bloated public sector department, with over inflated wages and too many managers.

+1

Murdoch or BBC..hmm tough choice..

For you and all the others who seem to have missed it, TORYS ARE PLANNING A FREEZE NOT A DISMANTLING, they say nothing of getting rid of the license.

it is the writer of doctor who is implying everything else.

Really well said , sums it up nicely.

It wouldn't matter if the BBC showed blockbuster movies before their release and sent someone round to give you a blow job each morning. Regardless of how good or bad value you may think it is, the fact remains that paying for their service whether you use them or not, is compulsory if you own a TV receiver. There is no choice. You pay the fee or you are taken to court and prosecuted like a criminal.

The TV licence is an undemocratic tax. It infringes on our liberty to choose. I find it ****ing insulting that we are not allowed to choose.

Any money the public "saved" by getting rid of the BBC would be taken in stealth taxes anyway, I have no faith in politicians. I'd respect them more if they were more honest about taxes, we all know we pay a huge percentage directly in various taxes anyway.

Ditching the BBC would never happen, it's a gimmick to win a few votes that'll probably cost more.
