Hi guys,

Im looking for a new case but Im at a miss because Ive always bought generic pish. Actually, this one right now is the best Ive ever had and that's a £25 Asus lump, pretty naff :)

So what do I buy? I'll tell you whats going in it:

ATX Mobo with XP120 cooler and 120mm fan
2 x 120mm fans (front and rear)
2 x CD drives
3 x HD's
1 x FD
1900xt (maybe 2 soon though)
Sound card
TV card

The components shall be air cooled but I wouldn't mind having the option of water cooling now. It needs to be black/silver/both. Im using the DFI Expert and having the 24pin and 8 pin PSU cables its a little cramped in there. The size of the case doesnt matter too much, it can be midi if it is spacious within or full high tower. As for budget, nothing TOO expensive, i.e. I dont really need the cutting edge bee's knees daddy of all so I can brag and wave my e-penis, ta :)

That's a rather nice case at a rather nice budget! Is there plenty of room there for water later? I was looking at some of the big chieftec's too. Tell me what are the blue LED fans? They look much brighter than my silenx!

Edit: 1000 posts :( oh dear Im a geek

I could get a few 100 taken of if you like. ;)

And enough room for water, depends what you want.

They are the stock PC007 fans I think. :) Not my case.

The Akasa Eclipse is another good choice, especially for watercooling.

How much do you have in £££ terms?

Well I could be silly and buy the most expensive if need be but Im going to put a price at £100 max just to be sensible :)

I've looked at the Eclipse many times and nearly bought it, thing is the pic on OCUK doesnt look too tempting yet Ive seen other people's pics and it looks better. It looks like its that matt black finish that just absorbs greasy finger prints though? Maybe Im just being too picky here :D

Not a bargain, the PC7+ is on a par and better built for cheaper, and the Akasa cools better + PC7+ atributes for only slightly more.

The Eclipse is not that bad with prints, the front is plastic so no worries there. :p

Does look better in person but not like a Lian Li, you should also set the budget at £80, so you can buy 2x Akasa Amber fans which are good value noise/performance fans. :)

I ended up getting a Thermaltake Soprano. Its new and unused but my mate didn't want it so I buoght it for a fair price. A quick browse and it looks ok, I quite like the easy installation clips, just hope its any good now

EDIT: Comes with the window and side fan too (BWS)

Hard drives run hot in them, it has poor frontal airflow.

I can honestly say I've had no problem with any component temps in my PC with my Aurora, my HD temp is currently sitting at 29 Deg. Not sure if it'll be good enough for multiple HD's though. The only thing I have done is remove the storage box from the inside as this seemed to be in the way. Thats not to say there arent better cases out there but I'm happy with the Aurora.

Most certainly, gives good temps.

But PC7+ has better hard drive cooling, I am just pointing out that the Aurora has the worst hard drive cooling of the good cases. Does not mean it is anything for concern unless you bung it full of Caviars, which are just about the hottest drive I have used.

S80 = Raptor 24deg, Caviar 30deg.

Thats a saving of 5deg over the v1000+, in a one time aluminium heatsink offer. :D

My HD in the Aurora is at 27 C so not too bad, in my PC7 they are 26, 32 and 34 so the diference isnt massive. Both good cases, go for whatever you prefer the look of.
